Your students will create thorough summer reading plans
, including setting goals
and corresponding goal tracking sheets
in this complete unit. Daily lesson plans are included.
Students will create their reading plans inspired by their summer plans.
The first step is for students to take home the included summer calendar (June-September) and fill in their plans with help from a family member. Then, they use this inspiration to create their Summer Reading Plans in class. I will upload a new calendar every year so you can use this product year after year with your class!
The reading plans are organized in a simple who, what, where, when, and why format
. Students will brainstorm ideas for what they will read based on interests, summer plans, favorite books, and authors. Then, students use these ideas to create a wish list of books to read.
There is also a section where students will create "By the end of the summer..." reading goals
and short term goals if you choose. I've included 2 tracking sheets where students can either track the total number of books they read or the total number of minutes they read.
My students tend to pick some of the same books so I have also included a section where students can create a Book Club
. A set of book club questions is also included.
These plans go hand in hand with my Summer Writing Plans!
