Students can create their own “SUMMER” identity with this fun writing and drawing activity!
Students use the month they were born to discover their "SUMMER” first name and the date they were born will be their “SUMMER” last name. Similar to popular Elf Yourself Activities! Once students have determined their name, they can move on to write about their summer plans OR write a creative story. There are three different prompts to choose from. Students should include adjectives, strong verbs, prepositions, etc. to practice the ever so needed grammar skills!
Students complete the activity by drawing their SUMMER SELF. There are three different picture pages to choose from. One is a Summer Selfie page and the other two pages are for students who would like something other than the selfie template. Students can color and add details to their selfie/picture based on their new name. For instance, if they are Dune Solstice Surfer they could draw themselves surfing or on a sand dune. A sample Summer-Selfie is included.
The pictures and stories are quite humorous when they are finished and they make for a great end of the year activity or even a bulletin board to start the school year off.
