**Multiple meaning words can be used in any part of speech as long as the sentence is grammatically and semantically correct
**Blank cards are also included. Leave a blank set of cards available for students to use as a “wild card”. You can also use other markers (like bingo chips, or objects) to represent wild cards.
How to Play
Each student will receive 3 cards in each category. Students should also each get 2 “wild” cards. Students take turn forming a sentence using their cards. They earn 1 point for each word in the sentences formed (e.g. “I played at the park yesterday = 6 words). Verbs will have to be conjugated orally by the student (you can also keep post-it notes with the game and have student write the verb conjugation down and stick it on the verb card to showed the appropriate verb form as they build their sentence. Once the student has used the words in sentences, those cards are returned to the main pile for each category and the students picks new cards to replace the ones they used (the wild card remains with the student at all times).
Other Game Ideas:
Flip-flops and Beach Bags – pull the common object and animal cards and put them in a beach bag. Have students take turns pulling a card and describing the item with 3 details.
Pass the bucket – use all the action verbs on the bucket cards. Pick a card and have one student use the the verb in a sentence in the present tense. Then have the student pass the card to another student and have that student use the word in the past tense. You can also have students roll a dice and use the verb with a singular subject noun if they roll #1, 3, 5 and plural subject noun if they get #2, 4, 6.
Delicious Sentence Cones – use the ice cream cards and have students pick a card and use the adjective/adverb in a sentence. The goal is to create elaborate and complex sentences that are not run-on sentences. Give students 1 point for each word in their sentence.
A NO-PRINT activity and data sheets are included with this MEGA PACK too!!!
