Looking for some fun whole-class review or for activities to go in your literacy centers? These bright, summery activities are meant to keep your class engaged as they work through them together. Or, the activities could be used in literacy centers. There is even a fun writing assignment that could be used the last week of school. Here is everything that is included:
*Simile Sort: Students match similes to picture cards.
*Metaphor Sort: Students sort sentences under the headings "Metaphor" and "Not a Metaphor."
*Onomatopoeia Illustrations: Students brainstorm summer activities or objects that would make different sounds, then glue fun onomatopoeia cards into summer illustrations they create.
*Hyperbole Sentences: Students turn boring sentences into creative sentences with hyperbole.
*My Pool Party: A fun writing assignment in which students are challenged to use all 4 literary devices in their stories about a pool party they have on the last day of school. Includes mini posters, graphic organizer, and colorful final copy writing paper. Also includes a recording sheet for students to record examples of literary devices they hear in their classmates' stories.
Check out the preview, which shows just some of the activities offered!
