Summer QR Codes: Equivalent Fractions
This game takes QR codes to the next level! Students solve the question involving equivalent fractions on each card. Once the answer is found, they scan the QR code to find the alphabetic letter it corresponds with. The student then puts that letter above the answer on the Mystery Phrase card. Once all cards are solved, it spells out a mystery phrase about summer time! There are three different mystery phrases included!
Emoji Family: Multiplication Facts
This game helps students practice their multiplication facts while getting to play with emojis at the same time! First, students answer a multiplication fact card. Second, students randomly pull out an emoji face from the emoji pile. If it's on their "Emoji Family" card, they get to keep the emoji. If it's not, they put it back. The first player to find all of the emojis on their "Emoji Family" card wins the game! It's similar to BINGO but with a twist!
Summer Sundaes: Comparing Fractions
Students get to build their own ice cream sundae while playing a game at the same time! Each time they answer a question correct about comparing fractions, they get to add a piece of their sundae to their bowl. The first person to finish building their sundae wins! Half of the 48 questions compare fractions with pictures and the other half of the questions compare fractions with numbers. There are also 24 chance cards included in the deck to spice up the game play!
Soccer Showdown: Missing Factors
Students get to play soccer in this fast-paced game! Each time a student answers a multiplication or division missing factors card, they get to move the ball towards the other team's goal. When they get a question wrong, the ball changes play and moves the opposite way. Each time a goal is scored, students get a point! The student with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Summer Multi-Step Word Problems
Multi-step word problems are so tricky for third graders! There are 20 problems included that involve multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction. Every time a student answers a question correctly, they may roll two dice and add that score to their board. All of the problems are summer themed and great practice for end of the year testing prep.
Water Party: Capacity and Mass
This game involves mass (kilograms, grams) and capacity (milliliters, liters). Students match up each item based on how many liters/milliliters it can hold or how much mass something has (grams, kilograms). Students use estimation to help them figure out which items would be best matched with which capacity/masses.
Summer Abroad: Elapsed Time
Each of the students is traveling to a different country for summer break. Can you help figure out which country each student is going to? Find the elapsed time of the flight each kid is taking to figure out where their final destination is! Match up the answers to win!
Flip Flop Data: Line Plots
Students measure each flip flop provided to the nearest half inch. They record this data in their table and then use the data to make a line plot. Making a line plot is a particularly difficult skill for third graders to understand and this will help give them the extra practice they need!
School’s Out: Area and Perimeter
School is out for the year in this game! Students travel from the school to their house and the first one to get home wins! Each time a student answers a question about area and perimeter, they get a little closer to their home. The 24 questions involve finding the area, perimeter, and finding missing sides given the area or perimeter.
Summer Race to Match: Geometry
This game can be played by 2-4 players. Students each have a set of shapes and definitions they have to match up correctly. The student who does it first wins the game! I also like to have my students work together in teams trying to race each other if their geometry skills need some additional scaffolding.
These math centers are 66% OFF when you buy the bundle instead of purchasing them individually!
