This download contains 30 writing prompts with a summer theme. You will also receive a journal cover and an extra lined page to provide more writing space for students.
Students will write on a variety of prompts. Students will write on personal narrative, descriptive, and persuasive prompts. "Would you rather" prompts and creative writing prompts are also included. Students will write to support their opinion, and practice sequential writing.

Many people use water to cool off on a hot summer day. What do you think is the best way to cool off in the heat? Give at least three reasons for your opinion.
Would you rather go to a baseball game or go hiking in the woods? Give at least three reasons for picking the one that you did.
Summer is a great time to read. Find a book that you think you will enjoy. After you read it, write a summary with as many details as you can remember from the story.
Think about all you have to do to get ready to go swimming at the pool. Tell about at least four things you do to get ready to go swimming.
Imagine that it is the hottest day of the summer, and your air conditioner just broke. Write about how you would feel. What would you do to try to cool off?
Sometimes kids get to stay up a little later in the summer. Write a letter to your parents to persuade them to let you stay up late.
This writing journal would be perfect to send home with your students at the end of the school year. It can also be used during summer tutoring.
