The summer writing topics include beach and pool, camping, colors, family vacation, watermelon, s'mores, ice cream, response to summer literature, and more! Use it for guided writing, small and whole group writing, or for your writing or literacy center. It also makes a great end of the school year or summer writing review packet. The packet includes:

• I can learn about SUMMER! – draw, write, and share about the summer season.

• What can you write about the BEACH? – draw and write about the beach.

• Camping is . . . Writing – complete the “Camping is . . .” sentence frame. Draw a picture to illustrate the writing.

• Swimming is . . . Writing – complete the “Swimming is . . .” sentence frame. Draw a picture to illustrate the writing.

• A sandcastle has . . . Writing – complete the “A sandcastle has . . .” sentence frame. Draw a picture to illustrate the writing.

• I’m excited about summer, because . . . – draw and write why students are excited about summer.

• It is Summer! – write a list of 5 things students can do during the summer season.

• Happy Summer Letter– write a letter to someone wishing them a Happy Summer! Illustrate the writing.

• What I See in Summer - draw and label four things students see during the summer season.

• A Great Day for a Pool Party!– draw and write about a pool party.

• Summer – draw and write about a summer picture.

• Summer Fun! - draw a picture of fun summer activities. Trace and finish an “I like to . . .” sentence.

• Summer Family Fun! - trace and finish a “We like to . . .” sentence to describe summer activities with family. Draw a picture.

• Summer Vacation – trace words and complete sentences to write about a summer vacation. Draw a picture.

• What is the same and different about . . . ? Venn Diagram – draw and label what is the same and different about Summer and Autumn.

• Fill the Beach Bucket – draw and color pictures of favorite beach activities. Complete the, “At the beach, I like to . . .” sentence frame.

• Summer Colors – finish the “I see” colors sentences. Trace the color words.
 
• I can write summer words. – trace the words and color the pictures.

• Summer Book Report – write about and illustrate the favorite part of a summer story.

• Retell a Summer Story - draw and label the beginning, middle, and end of a summer story.

• A Summer Story - draw and label the main character (who), setting (where), and an event (what) from a summer story.

• I read a summer animal book. – draw a picture to illustrate the story, and write a response to the question, “Did you like it?”

• All About Camping - draw and label two details about camping.
Trace “Summer camping is” and complete the sentence.

• Watermelon Facts - draw pictures to show 3 facts about watermelon {can also label the pictures}. Trace and complete the sentence starter, “Watermelon is . . .”.

• We all scream for Ice Cream! – answer the question, “What kind do you like?” Draw a picture to illustrate the writing.

• How to Make S’mores Booklet – trace and read the how to make s’mores sentences. Students can color the pictures.

• “I Like” Summer Booklet – make an “I Like” Summer booklet. Draw and write what students like about summer. It can be used as a booklet and/or bulletin board display.

• Writing Center Printables – summer notes and writing paper to use at a writing center.
