This file can be used as an engaging Sunday school activity in order to learn about what happened to Paul in Acts 27.
A 5 page play (Readers Theater) makes up the bulk of the lesson. The play follows exactly what happens out of the Bible; however it is placed in a kid friendly language using characters to describe what is happening along the way. By reading this short play your kids will have a better understanding of what Paul faced during chapter 27 as he was traveling across the ocean.
The lesson also makes connections to the song "It is well with my soul" and allows you as a teacher to ask your students to listen to this song together. As a Sunday school class, you can discuss the similar situation that the author of this song was facing in relation to Paul's situation with hope, trust, and faith in God. You can then use this as a springboard to discuss the "storms" that we may face in our lives today with the hope and assurance that God is also with us like he was with Paul.
I hope this lesson allows your Sunday school kids to understand the promises God made to Paul and that were kept. These include that he would be tried in Rome Acts 28:16, everyone on board would live Acts27:44, that the ship would wreck on an island Acts 27:41, and that they would make it safely ashore. These promises can relate to their lives to assure that God is with all of us during difficult times and continues to keep his promises.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
