PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is an excellent activity to integrate both science and math using activities designed to help you become familiar with sundials and how they are made. A brief history of the sundial and how people that lived long ago used things in nature like trees, stones or anything that had a shadow when the sun was shinning. They would tell time by using the length of the shadow and the movement of the shadow to tell the time. A stick was used as a more permanent marker of time. The stick was called a Shadow Stick. The Shadow stick was later called a Gnomon (a Greek word). The Gnomon is what casts the shadow to indicate time. A sample of two of the sundials assembled in on the first page. Two blank templates for students to color and assemble can also be seen on the first page.
