The lesson begins with observational drawings of sunflowers, an example of which I brought into the classroom. There’s nothing like the real thing.
There are several ways the lesson can go from this beginning. It’s up to you. My favorite is the artwork on transparent plastic.
I make reference to Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, but not until later in the lesson. I give the children the opportunity to develop their own images first.
