Capture the excitement of the Super Bowl in your classroom by engaging your students in the creation of commercials connected to historical figures or literary heroes! Students will work independently or in collaborative groups to develop a commercial pitch (persuasive writing), citing historical or literary evidence to support their spokesperson's tie to the commercial's product. In addition, students will integrate technology by creating their own commercials utilizing persuasive techniques and their extensive knowledge of class content. For an extra twist, students may judge the work of their peers to determine the award-winning commercials when they make their world premiere during your in-class presentations! This is a great activity to use in Social Studies but, it can easily be adapted to Language Arts. Everything you need to facilitate this lesson is included! You can shorten or extend production time based on your classroom needs.
