Use the scavenger hunts as an introduction to "Count and Write" the room. Use different picture cards with various recording sheets. The scavenger hunts are meant to help young learners become confident with "Write the Room" activities. After learners are confident in their identification of numerals, move on to the "Count and Write" the room activity that is included in this pack.

Students will search the room to find numerals, ten frames, or to count Super Hero themed pictures. Students will trace or write the numeral, add circles to a ten frame, or identify the sum of an addition sentence. Students can use a swatter with a hole in it to catch each numeral or ten frame. This will help them focus in on a specific numeral or set of objects.

Count the Room
Students will walk around the room and find the cards with superhero themed objects on them. Students will identify the letter in the upper left corner and record the numeral, ten frame, or tally marks that match the number. There are 3 different recording sheets for 0-10 and 10-20. Students will identify the letter in the upper left corner and count the objects.
#1– Numerals- Students will record the matching numeral on the extension worksheet.
#2– Ten Frames- Students will record the matching number of circles on the ten frame(s).
#3– Tally Marks- Students will record the matching number of tally marks in the box.
This activity is great for getting the students up and moving around the room. Kids love it and it helps students practice necessary skills.
You can have multiple children doing the same activity, but working on different skills. It is very easy to differentiate!

Memory
Students will play memory to match two types of numbers. You can choose any two types of the cards to work on. You can also print two copies of either set. Students can then match the same cards. The cards include:
- Numerals
- Ten Frames
- Object cards for subitizing
Mix and match, depending on what skill you would like to work on. I usually use 10 cards of each type. This way there is only 20 cards for the students to work with. Include more or less cards, depending on the needs of your students.
You can add an extension activity to the center.
Students will draw circles to make the ten frame match the numeral, or students will draw tally marks to match the numeral.

WAR
Students will use the different superhero cards to play WAR. They will identify the amounts of greater and less than. Use any combination of the cards.
