THE HALLOWEEN LESSON BUNDLE:
This lesson plan bundle is a must have for the Halloween season! These awesome Halloween activities will inspire and excite your students about figurative language, grammar, creative writing, and parts of speech. These Halloween-themed lessons and handouts help students with important writing skills while exciting them about the fall season. One activity has students create similes and even personify Halloween objects. Another page has students identify verbs, nouns, and adjectives in existing sentences and then create their own sentences utilizing these parts of speech. They have to label the parts of speech in their original sentences as well, so they are constructing their own meaning! There are three fabulous creative writing prompts relating to Halloween as well. Even your reluctant writers will be excited to write fun stories!
This Halloween Packet includes:
1. An identifying parts of speech page (nouns, verbs, adjectives).
2. A spooky sentence correction activity with capitalization, punctuation, and spelling errors.
3. A Haunted Halloween simile and personification page that allows for student choice and creativity.
4. A Halloween hyperbole and metaphor activity.
5. A Halloween writing prompt encouraging the incorporation of figurative language and other narrative techniques.
6. Fun parts of speech activities including stories missing parts of speech that students get to fill in!
7. A Halloween adjective unscrambling activity.
8. Improving Halloween sentences using high-level vocabulary words.
9. A Halloween pumpkin page where students draw a pumpkin, personify it, write similes about it, and then create a mini story about it.
10. A Frankenstein and Haunted House figurative language page.
11. A show, don't tell writing activity for Halloween.
12. A Spooky Skull Story writing prompt for students to write in collaborative pairs.
13. A Grammarlibs-style activity where students fill in the missing parts of speech to make a silly story.
THE CHRISTMAS BUNDLE:
This awesome packet includes lessons for improving sentences with vivid words, writing cause and effect Christmas sentences, and creating Christmas poetry (chock full of figurative language). It also includes a point-of-view writing lesson with proper nouns, a reindeer simile and metaphor activity, and a Christmas tree sensory detail writing lesson.
All the good boys and girls should be using these lessons this Christmas!
These lessons are designed for 4th-8th graders. There are a total of six lessons or activities. There is not a teacher manual since these are not worksheets. Rather, students construct their own meaning creating Christmas stories, sentences, and a poem that includes important language arts elements such as hyperbole and personification. Students are given creative choice with several of the prompts, including the poetry and the Christmas tree writing lessons. Two lessons also incorporate illustrations to motivate students who enjoy art. Christmas vocabulary such as reindeer, the Grinch, and more will excite your students about these language arts activities.
THE 2nd CHRISTMAS BUNDLE:
These awesome Christmas printables will excite your students about language arts! The first lesson allows students to identify parts of speech in existing Christmas sentences and then create their own sentences (and identify nouns, verbs, and adjectives). Through constructing their own meaning and having choice, students are highly motivated!
There is a sentence correction page with capitalization, punctuation, and spelling errors. There are two figurative language pages in this bundle as well. Students will become familiar with similes, personification, and hyperboles using common Christmas items such as snowmen, stockings, etc. The figurative language examples students come up with are quite hilarious and fun to share aloud. A fifth page has students write out their wish list to Santa, within which they then need to identify parts of speech.
For Christmas this year, show your students that language arts can be fun!
