I post these posters around the room and have the students do a Gallery Walk to get them up and moving. These posters serve a few purposes. Their main goal is to give the students exposure to seeing these verbs used in the preterite.
First I have the students go around and write all five conjugated forms of the irregular verbs on the lines surrounding the cloud. Once they are done, I have them guess which verb they come from (with a Wordle on the board) and have them write both the Spanish and English in the center of the cloud. This will serve as a note/reference sheet.
Next, I have them complete the fill in the blank worksheet, just using their new 'Word Web' notes sheet. I am always surprised at how well they do when they do not think about the rule and just use this as a reference.
Then the next day, I have complete another gallery walk where they must choose one sentence on each poster, write the Spanish and translate it into English.
All together, this will take about a period and half.
