One of the things my students have always struggled with is word problems.
"They don't have enough experience with them."
"They have no clue how to form an equation from the problem."
These are things I said about my students! This year, we have begun every math class with a word problem. We have talked about what kind of word problem it is and what we are supposed to do with that type. (I found the different types of problems in the glossary of the NC Department of Instruction's Unpacking Document.)
This is the second set of 45 word problems aimed at 2nd grade students. My students can tell me what type of problem each one is and how to write the equation that will help them answer the question.
