I use this assignment during my Biological Psychology unit in AP Psychology. I typically give it after covering the brain structures and their functions in class.
Students are asked to write a "superhero" paper while incorporating psychological knowledge. They invent a superhero and supervillain who have obtained superpowers due to brain abnormalities or accidents. Each character must have two superpowers with two corresponding brain structure modifications that relate to the power. For example, the superhero's pituitary gland might be overactive which has caused him to be huge, or the supervillain's amygdala might have been damaged, resulting in constant aggressive behavior.
The document includes instructions for the assignment, a planning sheet to help students organize their work, and a short rubric for assessing the finished product. All of these are modifiable for your particular classroom.
This document uses the fonts "For the One Hundredth Time" and "Maiandra GD"; if your computer does not have these fonts installed it will automatically replace it with a default font which may cause the spacing of the document to be different than seen in the screenshots.
