Description
Both PDF & Google Classroom versions are included. Please view the video preview to see the slides included with the Google resource (not all PDF pages were turned into slides).
Data notebooks are a great tool to help students take responsibility throughout the school year. In my classroom, we set up our notebooks at the beginning of the year and check-in weekly throughout the year. These notebooks also make a great addition to student-led conferences.

Other Versions of This Data Notebook
-Superhero EDITABLE (exact same as this version, but an editable PPT version)
-Notebook Doodles Edition EDITABLE
Included in this file:
Pages 2-4 Teacher Guide
Pages 5-7 Covers (options include: Data Notebook, Data Binder, Data Folder)
Pages 8-9 Student Reflection Sheets
Pages 10-11 Goal Setting Sheet
Page 12 Mission & Vision
This is a recording sheet for students to use after the class has created their mission and vision whole group.
Page 13 Class Rules
This is meant to be used as a template for a brainstorm web. Students should draw lines from the existing circle with the class-created rules.
Pages 14-15 Super Quality Students
Figures of student superheros for "quality" student brainstorming and diagramming.
Pages 16-17 Super Quality Teachers
Students will do this the exact same way as the quality student. They will record attributes they think a super teacher should have.
Pages 18-19 Writing Portfolio Covers
In my classroom, I use these at the end of the year. Throughout the year, I save one writing a month and in June, I bind all the pages with a cover and a back sheet. The kids who didn’t buy yearbooks use the blank back sheet as an autograph page for their friends on the last day of school.
Page 20 Data Tracking
This page is generic so students can use it to track any kind of data. Some of the things my students have graphed in the past include:
-unit tests for all subjects
-weekly spelling test scores
-reading fluency
-timed multiplication tests
-morning work % correct
-monthly/weekly behavior (with percentages based on the # of days out of the month/week they earned their behavior sticker)
Page 21-22 8 Smarts
These sheets were created for students to illustrate how they use their multiple intelligences (Howard Gardner) in school every day.
My students will add other pages throughout the year as well; such as weekly behavior logs or test score sheets.
There is so much that can be done with a data notebook in elementary classrooms. I found that the more I find ways to incorporate student data-tracking, the more students become aware of their progress and determined to succeed!
This product is the 2nd edition to my first data notebook posted here. The only difference between the two notebooks is the theme.
