Product Description

The first step to teaching students to write well is to teach them how to find the evidence that best supports claim. This universal worksheet and follow up quiz will do just that! In the box on the top left corner, students will make a claim. Then, they will dig through their text and find three pieces of evidence to support said claim.

Once the form has been filled in, ask students to go back and add their analysis. How does the evidence you've chosen relate back to the claim? In other words, how does that statement support what you have written in the box?

The completely editable worksheet comes in three forms.

  1. A claim box and three spaces for evidence.
  2. A claim box and evidence spaces for three specific formats: summary, paraphrase and direct quote.
  3. A larger claim box, three spaces for evidence and a space for connections to claims.
