Addition to 20, Addition to 10, or Create your own sums versions
This is a minimal prep
game to build fluency with basic addition and subtraction facts. Students will reinforce their understanding of fact families and inverse operations as they develop strategies to connect four squares in a row.
Two players per page.
4 pages with prewritten sums to 10 (low ink)
4 pages with prewritten sums to 10 (high color)
4 pages with prewritten sums to 20 (low ink)
4 pages with prewritten sums to 20 (high color)
1 page for student (or teacher) created sums (low ink)
Provide one Surf the Sums page, 2-color counters, and 2 paper clips for each pair of students.
Differentiate the Game
Low: sums to 10
Medium: sums to 20
High: create sums to 30, 40, 50 etc. using the blank sum page. Place in sheet protectors and use with dry erase markers.
Pages depict 4 surfer boys and 4 surfer girls with varied hair color and skin tones.
