The object of this surfing themed game is to ride the epic waves at the end of the board. Students will use spinner to determine movement of tokens. They will answer task card questions to advance their token. Opponents will check for accuracy before allowing the student to move their token. All students will be actively working at all times. No idle moments! 2-6 players
Create text dependent thinkers and promote text talk in your center groups with ANY informational text or literature
. Use the game board with the informational text task cards or the fiction task cards. Students will use speaking and listening skills in their Kagan groups (or guided reading groups for younger students) while finding and discussing text evidence to support their answers.
This is a great way to integrate science and social studies into the reading block as you may use this center with ANY literature or nonfiction text!

Place appropriate cards (literature or informational text) with game boards. Provide pencil, paper clip, and one token per player (any math manipulative -or even soda bottle caps!).
