This classroom tested math activity combines plotting points on a coordinate grid (using all four quadrants) with nets of solid figures, surface area, and volume.
Students are given a set of plot points in which they will connect the dots on a coordinate grid. The result will be a picture of the net of a cube or rectangular prism. From there, the students must draw the net, complete with measurements, and calculate the surface area of the net, as well as the volume of the completed solid.
This is a standards based, hands-on application of concepts learned in class and perfect for a bulletin board!
