This NO-PREP resource is READY TO PRINT! This surface area and volume scavenger hunt is perfect for keeping your students engaged while practicing math.
In this activity, students will solve surface area and volume problems. Some of the problems require students to use the surface area to find a side length, while other problems have students find the surface area and volume. To be successful, students will need to know how to find the total surface area and volume of prisms, cylinders, pyramids, cones, and spheres. Some of the stations have answers in both decimal form and terms of pi - you can choose which is appropriate for your students.
Make sure these problems are appropriate for your students - download the preview and look at the thumbnails to see problem examples. All of the problems are shown in the preview. Two versions of the stations are given: full color and black and white. A student answer sheet and answer key are included. Because of the length of the problems, there are only 8 stations.
Scavenger hunts are great because they get students up and moving around the room. They also encourage students to check their work carefully since an incorrect answer will leave them stuck at a dead end. Successfully completing the scavenger hunt requires students to slow down and check their work.
