Don't Break the Chain is a fun activity that my students love. The great thing about it is that it can be used for any topic. Students will receive two sheets of paper with 6 boxes each. In each box, there is a problem that needs to be solved and at the top of each box is a rectangle with an answer in it.
Students must first cut out all 12 boxes before beginning. I then choose the box that I want them to start with. Once they solve the problem in the first box, they must find the next problem to solve by locating the box with the corresponding correct answer in the rectangle. Once they find their next problem, they complete that one, then repeat the process until all 12 problems have been completed. If they correctly solve all of their problems, their answers will loop back around to the starting box. It is a great way to self-check!
I have the students tape their chain together when they are done and then display them in the front of the room.
