-There are 5 stations in this measurement lab.
-Students should use a ruler, their mathematics reference chart, or a tape measure to measure items.
-Have students measure everything to the nearest centimeter.
-Teach students how to measure using the ruler prior to doing the lab. We often assume they know how to use a ruler and they often do not.
-Pair students up for this lab. I would not have more than 2 at a station so that one person can measure and the other person can write. Everyone is accountable that way.
-Make multiple sets of the station cards in different colors so students know to stay within their color cards.
-Have the manipulatives at each station card.
-Have students record the formula and the work on the student work page. Make sure you stress they must show their process.
-Give students about 6-8 minutes per station. Measuring and calculating will take longer than you think.
