This lesson takes two days even though it is about just one single problem. To approach this problem students need to know what sectors, arc lengths, how to calculate volume and some basic understanding of surface area.
As such, this is a great unit-review/closure lesson, although I have used it in the past to introduce new concepts to honors classes.
The lesson is an animated PowerPoint, each slide has notes for the instructor that guide the lesson and helps to define the role of the student as they work through the problem. If you ever have comments or concerns my contact information is in the PPT on a slide that gives a general overview of how the lesson is to be delivered.
