This quiz covers surface area formulas for rectangular and triangular prisms and cylinders when given necessary dimensions. Diagrams are given for most situations. Situations also include lateral surface area, surface area over a given number of rotations of a cylinder, and surface area with pieces removed. This quiz is designed for students to complete with a calculator.* It requires multiplying decimals.
*Please note that all answers involving pi were calculated using the pi button on the TI-89 calculator, which are used on the 8th grade math STAAR test in Texas. If you are using 3.14 or 22/7 as an approximation for pi, the answer will come out slightly different but should not deviate more than a few tenths from the correct answer choice. See the answer key for more information.
