Description

Students find the LATERAL & TOTAL Surface Area of 4 rectangular and 4 triangular prisms to solve a riddle.

Using the perimeter and height of the lateral faces, students calculate the lateral surface area. The correct answer is at the bottom of the page in the riddle's answer.

Next, students will find the areas of both bases in order to calculate the total surface area. The total surface area is also part of the riddle's answer.

This activity builds confidence as students practice identifying which faces are the bases as well as the perimeter of the bases. Their answers solve the riddle only if they have calculated everying correctly!
