Product Description

Need a lab that helps students understand why cells divide? This is a great and easy lab to help students understand that as a cell grows larger, their surface area to volume ratio decreases which makes it harder to exchange materials.

Students submerge agar cubes of varying sizes mixed with bromothymol blue in vinegar and measure to see how long it takes for all the blue indicator to disappear. This is a qualitative lab.

Purchase includes a 16 page editable word document that contains teacher directions, student handouts, directions, and questions, tips and tricks, and modifications that step down the difficulty of the lab and questions.

Lab requires agar powder, bromolthymol blue and containers to cool agar in.
