This worksheet is meant to accompany a stations activity in which each of the 4 different stations has a different net of a 3D figure. When I did this in my class, I had about 2 assembled nets of the 3D figure at each station and than 2 or 3 unassembled nets. The students completed this worksheet as they moved to each station.
This worksheet is a great way for students to discover surface area before we even introduce that term. It allows students to see that they already KNOW how to find a figure's surface area-- they just need a little guiding :)
*** I did not include the nets of the 3D objects-- I just googled the nets for the shapes I wanted, that way you have freedom as to whether you use grid nets, big nets, etc.
