This was for a science class that had a section called "Math in Science." It focused heavily on presenting data in graphs/charts. The students collected their own data on a topic of their choosing, kept a tally, and then made their graph on a poster board I hung up in the room. It is a simple activity and can be tweaked. You can make it more difficult or assign the topics they choose (if so, you may want to edit document to reflect it is their choice). I just needed something with instructions and an example. We did a practice one together in class by me surveying the class on their favorite drink (that is the example on the form). I just used a google image for a tally board and put it on the back of the worksheet (ran each copy through the printer and made it a single 2-sided document).
