This is a perfect unit to do at the beginning of the year. This book takes students through data collection and data organization to make a classroom almanac all about them. Each lesson correlates to Common Core math standards, are hands-on and a great way to teach statistics.

Skills include mean, median, mode, range, histograms, double bar graphs, line graphs, scatter plots and stem and leaf plots. Students will analyze graphs and critically decide the most appropriate graph. What a great way to begin the year and learn all about your students.

This unit fits best with 6th and 7th grade math but can also be used with higher 5th graders and lower 8th graders.
