Rockwall English Book 1 Set: Tutor's Manual and Student's Workbook (2 files)
The Rockwall English series guides non-English-speaking elementary school students through their first few months of immersion in an English-speaking classroom, giving children key words, phrases, and structures that they can grab onto as they scale the cliff of English. These contact points make it easier for kids to stretch their minds and ears to reach more and more of the features of English surrounding them in their interaction with teachers, staff, and other students.
Rockwall English lessons are designed simply and creatively, employing interaction and personalization to maintain interest and including visuals and games that require minimal materials. In each lesson, short (15-20 minute) blocks of learning time build on each other, allowing the student to repeat newly-introduced material and reinforce previously-learned vocabulary and grammar. These mini-lessons fit easily into small gaps in the busy school day. Most importantly, instruction is given by a tutor, who can be a teacher, paraprofessional, intern, or volunteer. No experience is necessary. The detailed lesson plans and visuals in the Rockwall English Book 1 Tutor’s Manual allow tutors to focus on teaching rather than on planning, preparing, and searching for materials and activities.
The Rockwall English Book 1 Set contains the Book 1 Student's Workbook and the Tutor’s Manual, with complete lesson plans for all of the tutoring sessions in Rockwall English Book 1, including all of the scripts, games, activities, and visuals needed to teach survival English skills to elementary school students who arrive with no knowledge of English. Topics covered in Book 1 include introductions, classroom commands, numbers, colors, feelings, description, family, and location. Verb tenses include those used to express habit and activity in progress.
