A webquest and internet activity to introduce the theme of SURVIVAL for students in language arts and English classes. This webquest pays special attention to vocabulary and follows the C.O.D.E. practice of vocabulary teaching.
C=connection O=organize D=deep process E=exercise
Students will use technology (ipads/laptops/computer lab) for this multimedia activity. The webquest can also be used as an activity to give students practice with vocabulary, making connections, analysis, higher order thinking, and application.
Webquest includes a plane crash simulation that has students work look at the most important items needed for surviving a plane crash and then debate with other students to come up with a finalized list. This is the last part of the webquest and can be easily removed if desired.
The parts of the webquest:
Part 1= Definitions and Questions (Connect)
Part 2= Survival Associations (Connect)
Part 3= Vocab Categorizing and Labeling (Organize)
Part 4= Quotations (Organize)
Part 5= Survival Videos
Part 6= Quotations (Deep process)
Part 7= Cinquain Poem on Survival (Deep Process)
Part 8= Survival Group Activity (Exercise)
