Product Description
This is a simulation to help students experience the difficulties of settlers at Jamestown, Virginia, during the winter of 1609-10. The simulation can be used two ways. Students can prepare the materials needed for the simulation or to save time, the materials can be prepared by the teacher. If the students prepare the materials, which include small tombstones describing cause of death, then students will develop some prior knowledge before the game begins. I developed this game from the video Nightmare at Jamestown, which provides new insight into the many ways settlers died. The simulation also helps students identify keys to survival. At the end of the simulation, students fill in a short exit slip to demonstrate their learning. Thanks for looking and happy history. Penny Wood
