Students develop an island as a group, produce a map with geological features (you decide what to assign), then they decide who does what, how they learn to cope, discover the pluses and dangers of island living. They develop a journal (cut grocery bags work well when tied with twine) and document their experiences, research, triumphs and any disasters they might befall. 9 Pages cover subjects for journal entries and research areas as well as a group daily working point sheet and rubric. Takes about 2 weeks, can be 3 depending on age of students, group size and what YOU have time for!
