This is a fun synonym activity in which students make paper sushi synonym rolls. It can be used as a whole group activity or at a center.
Are you tired of the same old, dead word wall with tombstones or cinnamon rolls? If so, how about a spicy word wall with sushi! The purpose of this synonym activity is to review what synonyms are, how to use a thesaurus or Internet site to find synonyms, revise and replace overused words and learn new words. Everything can be printed in grayscale or black ink.
It is aligned to Common Core Language and Writing and is appropriate for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.
Includes the following...
-3 different small posters you could use for a display with one being a definition of a synonym
-2 blank sushi templates for you to write in your own vocabulary words
-20 sushi plates with different simple words that need to be changed to dynamic words
-1 placemat for your sushi plates
-9 QR codes that take you to dictionary/thesaurus sites
I hope you like it!
