Students will read multiple suspenseful short stories and analyze video clips (also based on mystery and suspenseful short stories) in order to identify the author’s craft in developing suspenseful narratives – including inciting the fear of the unknown, developing suspenseful settings, introducing conflicts that cause anxiety and uncertainty, implementing delays, using the element of foreshadowing, and heightening suspense through the use of dramatic irony.
