In this activity, students have the opportunity to practice their scientific process skills using a favorite subject – candy. Students will compare and contrast M&M’s and Skittles by using all 5 of their senses to make observations. They will also use a balance to determine which is bigger, the Skittle or the M&M. Lastly, students will predict and observe what happens when Skittles and M&M’s are placed in warm water.
Big idea: Students can observe physical properties of everyday objects, like candy, using their five senses. We can also use science tools to make additional observations.
