Be Mine: Compare and Contrast (page 5-8): Students take turns drawing a card and identifying the similarities and differences between the two words. 24 cards.
Sweet Treat: Multiple Meaning Words (page 9-13): Place all cards face down. Have students turn over two cards. If the cards are a match, have the student provide sentences to demonstrate each meaning. Then, place the cards on the “Sweet Treat” mat. If the cards are not a match, turn them over and it is the next student’s turn. Student with the most matches, WINS the game! 24 cards.
Secret Admirer: Identifying Objects from Oral Descriptions (page 14-17): Select a card and read the clues on the card (close envelope.) Match the description card to the picture card (open envelope.) 24 cards.
Hearty Irregular Past Tense Verbs (page 18-23): Have students read card “A” and identify the irregular past tense (card “B”) form of the underlined verb. 36 cards.
