This is an activity I created to go along with my teachings of habitats and adaptations of animals. Use this activity with the "SwitchZoo".com website. Students use this as their guide, as they mix-and-match the heads, legs, and tails of multiple animals.
First, I allow them to simply play around and get used to the website (found on the handout) and get used to working with the SwithcZoo game. Once I have allowed enough time for students to become familiar with the program, I pass these pages out to them at their computers (we do this activity in our school's computer lab).
Students will be required to draw and color their newly created animal in its selected habitat, identify each of it's 3 main parts (head, legs, & tail), name their animal, and write about its adaptations and habitat on the 2nd page titled "About my animal".
I usually make these handouts as 2 separate pages and then once the students are done with their writing exercise, I connect the 2nd page to the bottom of the first and laminate it for them, so that we can hang them up in our hallway.
