Applying knowledge of Syllabication Rules can be tricky....make it fun with a dice activity!
This resource was made to address 6 syllabication rules for 2 syllable words (posters of each syllabication rule is included
→ double consonants (i.e., happy)
→ unlike consonants (i.e., pencil)
→ compound words (i.e., cupcake)
→ consonant -le word chunks (i.e., purple)
→ suffixes (i.e., joyful)
→ prefixes (i.e., rebuild)
Students will use dice to complete each page of syllabication rules (labeled for easy reference). You could have students complete this independently, with a partner, at a Reading/ELA Center, and/or so much more! Also, you can assemble this book with ALL syllabication rules included OR simply make the activity books with the syllabication rule practice of your choice.
To assemble, simply run pages through the copier (copy pages back to back to save on paper!). Then, use a paper cutter to cut between each page (in order as printed). You should now have two sets of the activity books for your students. Copy off as many as needed for your class size, staple books together on the side and you are all set!
