This set includes 4 sets of game cards for between 4-8 students plus a sorting board that can be easily duplicated for each student or pair.
The cards and sorting board can be used for individual/group mini-lessons, literacy centres, homework bags, etc.
1. Print off the game cards and laminate for durability if possible.
2. Print off 4 sets of the game board. Laminate if possible.
3. Each student works individually or with a partner. Pick up a
card. Say and clap the syllables for the word. E.g.
“alligator” = “al-li-ga-tor”. This card would be then
placed in the column with the 4 at the top.
Note: The game cards are colour coded to keep sets from getting mixed up with the other sets.
Syllable Memory: Place the playing cards face down. Each player takes a turn picking up two cards. They say and clap the syllables for the words. If the two cards have the same amount of syllables, then they win the pair of cards. Play until all cards are won. The player with the most sets, wins!
