Product Description
Syllables are often considered the phonological "building blocks" of words. Initially, children may look at a longer, multi-syllable word and consider it too difficult to read, or spell. Being familiar with basic syllable-spelling conventions will help children to gain confidence, and attain greater accuracy, and fluency as they learn to decode (spell), and blend (read) unfamiliar words. (They learn to chunk words into manageable parts.) Digraphs and silent /e/ have been indicated on the colored pages.

Syllable Completion (PRINT)

Included in this package:
• 12 one syllable words
• 12 two syllable words
• 10 three syllable words
• 10 four syllable words
• 2 five syllable words

Directions:
• Cut along the dotted lines of the colored picture cards.
• Fold the printed word behind the picture.
• Look at the picture, and say the word.
• Say the word breaking it into syllables. (Suggestion: Clap the syllables.)
• As a group, or with a partner, drop down each syllable as it is spoken.
• Say the syllables again, and then say the word! Challenge: Print the word!
• Modify as desired.

Black and White Pages
• After practicing with the colored pictures, fill in the missing syllables (sounds) on the black and white pages… orally! Place a marker on each syllable box, or if the child is seeking a challenge, write the missing sounds on paper. Listen carefully for digraphs!
• NOTE: All of the black & white cards are multileveled. They are grouped for printing, as needed, missing 1- 4 syllables depending on the word!.
• Optional: Laminate the black & white pages and use a dry erase marker.
