A great syllable counting activity with a St. Patrick's Day theme. Add it to your literacy unit for this March holiday. Students can stack all shamrock cards in a pile and take turns drawing a card. They then have to say the name of the picture on the card and count the number of syllables in the word. Then they place it under the St. Patrick's Day mouse with the number of the correct syllables. Example, a shamrock with a pumpkin- pumpkin has 2 syllable so the shamrock goes to the mouse with the number 2. You can write the answers on the back of the shamrock card so students can self check their work. Print this activity on card stock, laminate for durability, cut apart, and start counting syllables! Very quick and easy to use! Great activity for Kindergarten students at a center or as a game when work is finished. This comes with worksheet where students choose a card with a word, write the word, draw the word, and count the number of syllables in the word. If you like this activity check out our other St. Patrick's Day counting syllables literacy station too!
