These sheets will help you guide your students through dividing words of two closed syllables. I use the memory aids of the "rabbit" (VCCV), the "camel" (VC|V) and the "hamster" (VCCCV) to help my students connect to the three structures we encounter with our two closed-syllable words. These sheets provide opportunities to both divide and read these words and to categorize these words according to their structure. This type of practice is very valuable for students with reading challenges, and can be built upon with other word structures and syllable types later in a scope and sequence.
I hope your students can benefit from this type of practice as much as mine have! I have included an answer key and a page describing my method for teaching syllable division to support you.
