Syllable Fun in the Snow! is a syllable activity. There are 5 winter scenery mats with 1 Syllable Words, 2 Syllable Words, to 5 Syllable Words written on each mat. There are 60 snowballs. Each snowball has a word written on it. Students need to pick a snowball, say the word, and decide how many syllables the word has. The student then places the snowball on the correct syllable mat. You can use this a whole group to review syllables or place in literacy stations so students can work independently. An answer key is provided. In my classroom I placed magnetic dots on each syllable mat and each snowball. I placed the syllable mats on my magnetic board. As I called on my students they chose a snowball, said the word, told how many syllables the word had, and then placed it on the correct syllable. I now placed it in their literacy stations so they can work independently. They had lots of fun with this winter scene syllable activity.
