Included in this Syllable Bundle:
Write the Room Syllable Set 1 AND 3: My students will never get sick of Room Writing activities. If you are new to the concept, here is what to do… All cards are printed and laminated (optional). Cards are then placed around the room for students to find. Each student is given a recording sheet and walk around the room searching for the cards. When a student finds a card they look at the number on it. This number corresponds to the box in which they need to write their answer. For this room write, students must write in the numbered box the number of syllables in the word that corresponds to the picture shown. Once you do one room write with your class you won’t be able to stop! I often have a room write set up in one section of my classroom for one group to do, while another group is reading/writing with me. With the answer sheet these take you less than twenty seconds to mark. It is a great tool for monitoring student progress with a concept in a fun way. Includes: Instructions for use, an answer sheet (to make marking easy), black and white printable recording sheet and syllable game cards.
Monster Mash Syllable Clip Cards: Print, cut and laminate all clip cards. Place a sticker or marking on the back of each correct answer to assist in self checking. Students play by clipping a peg onto the numeral that represents the number of syllables that correspond to the main picture shown. Students can then turn the card over and see if they are correct by looking for the stickers/markings position. Includes - 38 clip cards and instructions for use.
What a Catch Syllable Board Game: Throughout my teaching career I have found that when students are learning to break words into syllables, it is often the one and two syllable words that can be most difficult to master. This board game provides students with an opportunity to practice this skill in a fun and engaging way.
Syllable Station Small Group Game: Syllable Station is a game for small groups (up to six players). Each player is given a syllable game card with a variety of numbers on it. Players take turns drawing a picture card from the middle and must clap out the number of syllables. If the player has that number on their game card they may cover it with a counter. If they do not have the number they must wait for their next turn to have another try. The first player to cover all numbers on their game card wins. * Sometimes if a player does not have the number on their game card I encourage them to ‘gift’ their counter to another player who can use it. Includes – 44 syllable picture cards, 6 player game cards and instructions for use.
What’s in the Fridge Syllable Sorting Activity: Feeling hungry? This syllable food is perfect for individual, small group or whole class learning experiences. Students select a food and identify how many syllables are in the corresponding word. Student then show their answer by placing it on the fridge sorting mat that has that number. Includes – 25 food cards, 4 fridge sorting cards and instructions for use.
