Working with syllabication can be very hard for students. Rarely are they taught how to do much beyond clapping for beats. Part of what we need to teach them is how to blend the syllables, understand their structure, and dissect them. With practice kids can quickly decode polysyllabic words.
These lessons will introduce students to 48 different common syllables in just a few days. They will have an opportunity to practice syllables in isolation through Powerpoint Slideshows. The syllables have a unique visual coding system. If you have any of the letter cards I make, this will fit in perfectly! After they are fluent in the syllables students participate in an interactive way to build and disect words. My students love these activities.
