Here is a fun game for your kids to help them practice counting syllables!
To play this game, students will pick a card. Then they say the name of the picture at the top of the card and count how many syllables it has. Then they put a clothespin on the number that shows how many syllables the “picture word” at the top has. To make the cards “self checking”, simple put a little mark “X” on the back of the correct number Do this BEFORE laminating your cards for durability. The students can see if they are correct by turning over the card, after putting on the clothespin, and see if it is where the mark “X” is! If the clothespin does not match up, they turn the card back over and try again!
This game can be played at Center Time, for Remediation or even great as a “Warm-Up” at your Guided Reading Time!
