Description
This fun song will introduce your students to the concept of syllables. It explains the definition of a syllable as well as practices clapping 1, 2, & 3 syllable words. Easily sung to the tune "London Bridges", the Shared Reading singable has many Literacy Center resources to support the introduction of syllables. Five fun themes are used to reinforce the skills, all with Sorting mats, cards and worksheets. A fun path game has been added to allow for even more syllable practice. There are also Sorting mats and cards to practice Category Sorts.
This product features a Mini-movie of the Singable!
The ZIP folder includes an M4V file designed to be shown on a large screen. This is an engaging (and easy) way to teach the singable to your class. The mini-movie includes the pages of the “book” AND our voices singing the song!
In order to play the mini-movie, Quicktime Player is needed or another program that converts an M4V/mov file.

*RF.K.2b Count, pronounce, blend, and segment syllables in spoken words.
*RF.K.2c Blend and segment onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words.
*L.K.5a Sort common objects into categories (e.g., shapes, foods) to gain a sense of the concepts the categories represent.
*RF.1.2 Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
*RF.1.3d Use knowledge that every syllable must have a vowel sound to determine the number of syllables in a printed word.
